How to make my Windows more secure?

I get a few queries about making your dear Windows more secure. Hey, I’m not really an expert in this field, okay? But other than installing those anti-virus, spyware, adware stuffs, try this.
Use a different browser, other than Internet Explorer.
Yeah, no kidding.
I have used extensively both Firefox and Opera and they are much much better than IE. (Since I moved to Mac, I’ve been using Safari)
Other than the better security features, these browsers support cool tabbed browsing (latest IE is supposed to have this, but these guys are always playing catching up!) and my favourite pop-up window disabler. Yeah! No more irritating pop-ups!
Opera even has many skins for you to download and customize its appearance, PLUS the very nifty keyboard shortcuts and mouse gestures. Say you are viewing a page and wishes to go “Back”. Just hold on to Left Click and move the mouse towards the Left and you are “Back”! To go Forward, hold on to Right Click and move the mouse to the Right! Smart eh? Similarly you could do the same with your keyboard too. Z for “Back”, X for “Forward”.
So there’s 2 reasons there for you. Security and Ease of use.
Still prefer Old Boring IE?
