Don’t use Outlook!

Hee hee. First IE, now Outlook. If this sounds like I’m anti-Windows, don’t get me wrong. Windows definitely has improved in great strides but popularity doesn’t mean anything if you are constantly being attacked by “weapons of mass destruction” — computer viruses and worms.

You are really better off using Lotus Notes, Eudora, pens and paper… anything but Outlook!

If most of your emails aren’t in HTML, use this favourite shareware of mine. Eprompter.

If you have a few email accounts (its hard to imagine one having only one email account these days), checking your inbox is quite a chore. And if you subscribe to forums, reading/replying/deleting them, one by one… Man, you could make a day job out of it!

This is where eprompter comes in. You set it up by configuring your email accounts on it. The max is 4 I think. When you click “Update”, it’ll log in to ALL your email accounts and download the mails. You could then read/reply/delete them. And upon the next “Update”, these task will be carried out.

I set up mine for Yahoo, a POP3 mail and 2 diyparadise email accounts. Setup consists of specifying mail server names and password. Free email accounts like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc are available from drop-down menus, so all you need is just your login ID and password. Did I mention the address book could be shared by all email accts?

Cool huh? This nifty time saver boosts productivity like no other programs I use! Since I go thru over 50 emails a day, it is the most used program in my PC.

Only snags are… You can’t do html. You can have only 5 emails in your Outbox. And there’s no version for Mac!!!!! :((
