you might like to try Amtrans AMRG as I/V resistor, I am using 5K6 with 9V across and felt it more to my taste than the Takman.  My feeling was of a little more warmth, body and weight than the metal film, with no loss of detail.
Nice resistors, I like - the Takman carbon film is another possibility and cheaper.

i am using #26 preamp. and J2 power amp. maybe just a component mismatched then as no one else except me feels that way  . maybe its time to tweak along the line

26 preamp... this should give you a very sweet sound.

the tx2575 really lets you hear more, especially the highs.

how about your speakers' tweeters? may i know more more about your j2 amp?
