If you short the output caps, then the transformers will see 1/2 Vdd DC on their input if I'm not mistaken. This will probably kill the B1 buffer stage, at least it will cause heavy distortions.

The output caps are not there to block just a little DC offset. The high bias voltage is probably also the reason why the black gates work so well there - the signal never crosses zero volts or gets even near.

I don't think you can use transformers instead of caps at the Mojo output.

    hi ole

yes, the trans will see ~9vdc. this is okay. toni chose this trans as i recall he mentioned the dc resistance is ~1kohm. so 9v/1kohm = 9ma. still within its operating limit of 18ma.

    so no issue there.

yes, you could use trans but only those trans that could allow dc current to flow through.

    Hi All,

A short question, do output transformers sound better than NP BGs?

LL1660 is quite expensive. Are there any cheaper replacement?

in another thread, i talked about the possibility of using 2 mojos. this way we could use a trans that doesn't have to conduct dc current through it.

also, as we have a balanced circuit, common mode power supply noise can be reduced considerably.

dang, i forgot to attach the diyaudio link. here it is. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/audio-sector/187748-pushing-limits-tda1543-nos-dac.html

    Hi All,

I am going to order two LL1660's. Should I choose the PP, 10mA or 18mA version?

    Thx
