hi yeo, have you campered the two: i2s straight in, and spdif to converter to i2s out? is there any difference in the sound?
thanks

hi yeo,
if i want to experiment with the i2s out from qa550 and in to discrete monica, do i need to go through the black crow, o does it connect directly?
thanks

hi kevin
you could wire directly. only problem is....
i2s from qa550 is not buffered. if the wires are long, you'll get distortion. keeping it short to less than a foot is okay.

Can keep it short, currently qa550is about 1.5cm pfrom black crow. I will try this to see if there is a difference.
Thx

Hi Yeo,
I wonder if I could mod the older version to output I2S?

hi ck
you could but it's not easy.
these are pins 25/26 on dir9001. they are wired to ground to set the output to eiaj.
to set to i2s, these 2 pins must be tied to high, say pin 5 (vcc) of the chip. or you could tie to pin 24 (vcc).

clock freq has nothing to do with i2s.
setting both psck0/1 to h sounds better. worth a mod.

hi yeo,
i would like to verify a couple of questions about hooking up the i2s out from the qa 550 to the discrete monica. i have attached a diagram that shows the pin configuration on monica and the qa 550.
thanks

hi kevin
you got the 3 pins right.
Word Select is meant to be hooked up to Left Right Clock.

Hi All,
I have been enjoying the dac for a while and is thinking about some mods.
i have the Ad 815 pre that I like very much . The dynamic is excellent !
I am thinking of using the Ad 815 in place of the B1 buffer on board and use a dc servo to control the dc output.
I got the idea from this thread and the post by Rudi.
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/chip-amps/40783-re-searching-better-preamp-19.html
see post 183.
Will this work ? I have an input caps n the amp also.
I Please comments
regards
