    You missed out one important point (IMHO) ;)

    Before PU coat, the primer must already be sanded down to near perfection.

    'lightly sand' will not cut it, because PU coat will not be able to cover hairline cracks, scratches.

    OIC... you mean PU is good to build thickness but won't help with scratches? then when the surface is too smooth, will PU bond?

    One more really stupid question...

    The box is made from wood, wet sanding sounds scary to me.... will moisture it not damage the cabinet????? I understand most cabinets are not painted on the inside surface... :-?

    I dont know if wet sanding is damaging or not, but many people (including me) seems to do this. I think under the hot sun should be ok.
