« on: March 26, 2009, 10:08:36 PM »
anyone try diy USB cable? I try to find the good quality connector to no avail.

Anyone got the source for this USB connectors?

If you have diy USB, mind share any tips?

I plan to use 24awg silver cables for data. While I will power using seperate psu for the 5v

hi erwin

i'm supposed to work on this but haven't got around to it.

for data, try cat5, or cat6. for clock too.

for ground, i'll go for having some ferrite beads in series.

i'm not too keen on silver here.

hi yeo

thanks for the tips.

looks like this area is kinda uncharted lol. not many people doing it. but i think i would make a difference.

yes yeo, please work on this. i am sure a lot of people is interested.

for clock, do you mean the 5v? my understanding that usb cable has 4 connections: 2 data and 2 power (5v 0v). please elaborate.

Yes. I meant both data lines. In usb audio transmission, one function as data while the other as a clock.

But data transfer in USB cables are asynchroniuos, so what could a certain cable design make any changes?
