Installing a good quality pulse transformer is one of the most effective tweak for most SPDIF source. Tweak? The effect is so great it should probably be rephrased as an upgrade!
However, this may not be possible with most digital source. Too difficult, too much work, don't want to void warranty etc etc etc.
To me these are all excuses but I don't blame it, particularly if you can't tell a torx screw from a hex screw, or if you don't even know which end of the soldering iron to hold. (You hold the hot end!)
So I thought this tweak will be a good one for you! Treat this as a SPDIF isolator.
Plug the RCA end into your SPDIF source's RCA socket. The output of B52 is BNC and we highly recommend our Whitesnake to go with it. You have no business transmitting SPDIF through RCA plug/sockets, even if it's "labeled" as 75 ohms.
Tested, works and improves the sonics on most CD/DVD players (including the CDPRO2 transport module), Squeezebox 3 and Squeezebox Touch. If you are unsure about your SPDIF source, do enquire.
