Black Crow (named after Black Crowes of course) is a I2S to EIAJ convertor PCB with buffered output.
It is without a doubt that I2S is superior over SPDIF or USB. The latter 2 needs to decode down to I2S level for the DAC chip to recognize anyway, so we are better off by at least 2 stages.
If your CDP outputs I2S, you could use Black Crow for an immediate sonic upgrade!
"Chopping board digital source" uses QLS Hifi's QA550 (I call it a digital turntable), outputs I2S to Black Crow, then EIAJ goes out to mojo2 (not shown here) via the ribbon cables.
In pinout below, LRCLK = WS which is 44.1kHz for non-oversampling operation. You could measure this frequency with your multimeter.
Please note that MCK is not passed through.
