Is the laser interchangable? Newer RCA Model: Compact Audio System RP 9316B. Older RCA (all parts connected/layered together to form box): Cassette & Radio Model: RP8530A, CD Player Model: RP8530CD A

the steps are the same but as you said, getting the laser pickup often is the biggest problem.

as these are designed in, you can’t plug in other models and expect it to work right away.

the steps still apply though. i’ill try to get a similar system. or buy a broken one for parts!

The 5-disc changer now reads “no disc” when loaded. I’m assuming the laser pickup unit is burned out, JVC is notorious for this. Is my analysis correct? And is there a source for a replacement pickup assembly besides JVC? At this point I have a great sounding radio, but that’s it. Also, I’m assuming the steps you outlined would still apply to this unit?
