It uses a 6AU6 as the driver and has the driven EL86 with local feedback ala Schade plate to grid. The second EL86 acts as a slave antriode. The Output stage has the cathodes tied together with floating caps to allow for absolute CCS current matching.

I would love to send you a copy of the schematic to see if you like the ideas. I never actually built the basic Simple EL84, so cannot comment on whether my version is better or just different.
